Terms of Use

Last updated: April 2026  ·  operationready.org

Summary: Operation Ready provides awareness-level pre-deployment training material. It is not certified training, not medical advice, and not a substitute for your organisation's SOPs or onboard induction. Use it, share it, but understand what it is and what it isn't.

1. What this platform is

Operation Ready provides free-to-access, browser-based pre-deployment training material for crew joining humanitarian search and rescue operations. The content covers maritime fundamentals, SAR operations, medical awareness, survivor interaction, mental health, and the legal framework.

This is awareness-level preparation material — not a certified training course, not a professional qualification, and not a substitute for:

  • STCW or other certified maritime training
  • First aid or medical certification
  • Your organisation's vessel-specific induction
  • Your organisation's standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Onboard briefings from your team leader or master

2. No warranty

The content on Operation Ready is provided "as-is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied. We make reasonable efforts to ensure accuracy and currency, but maritime SAR practice, medical guidance, legal frameworks, and organisational procedures change. You are responsible for verifying that what you learn here aligns with your organisation's current practice before you act on it.

We do not warrant that this material is complete, error-free, or appropriate for any specific deployment context.

3. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Operation Ready and its author(s) accept no liability for any loss, injury, or damage — direct or indirect — arising from your use of or reliance on this material. This includes, without limitation, decisions made during rescue operations, medical interventions, or any other action taken in the field.

If something you learn here contradicts guidance from your vessel master, team leader, or certified training provider, follow theirs. This platform is the floor, not the authority.

4. Medical content

Modules covering medical topics (triage, hypothermia, drowning, first aid) are written at an awareness level for non-clinical crew. This is not medical advice and should not be used as a basis for clinical decision-making. Always defer to your vessel's medical officer or trained medical staff. In emergencies, follow your organisation's medical protocols.

5. Your use of the platform

You may use Operation Ready for personal pre-deployment preparation and share the link freely with your crew and colleagues. You may not:

  • Reproduce or redistribute the module content in modified form without permission
  • Use the content in commercial training products without written agreement
  • Misrepresent this platform as certified or accredited training

6. Intellectual property

All original content on Operation Ready — including module text, diagrams, illustrations, and the platform design — is copyright © Operation Ready 2026. All rights reserved except as stated in these terms or agreed in writing.

International frameworks and standards referenced (IAMSAR, SOLAS, Beaufort scale, METHANE, etc.) are the property of their respective organisations and are referenced for educational purposes only.

7. No accounts, no tracking

Operation Ready does not require registration and does not track individual users. Progress is stored locally in your browser. See our Privacy Policy for details.

8. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
